On to the subject of this posting- Games are a vital part of the shop! EVERYONE that works here has several favorites and we encourage their play wether its organized or not- That being said, Imagine my surprise last week when a good customer (GOOD because he cares enough to say something about it in hopes that it can be fixed as opposed to just getting annoyed and/or offended never coming back in!) complained that the gamers were ‘riotous’ and VERY vulgar. He was shopping with his kids in tow and very offended by their conduct.

Now I know we are prone to exclamations of awesome or disgust in the course of our games- we’re human and that can be expected and no one is gonna hold an occasional slip/shout when you roll double sixes or draw a land when you really needed a ‘good’ card – But I know some of the gamers around here have become accustomed to talking like they are in a Quentin Tarantino movie! You should especially be aware of other store patrons.

The obvious solution, someone suggested, was a ‘swear jar’. This is not a solution- it implies that paying for it makes it OK. Paying a quarter for every swear word doesn’t make it OK for you to drop the ‘f-bomb’ while someone is in the shop with their children! The solution is getting rid of Bad Language Habits and/or the people that can’t make an effort to keep their language ‘PG-13″.

Thats the bottom line guys (not just gamers- but folks in general just hanging around!)- If I (or anyone that works, plays, or shops at CCT!) overhears or/is distracted by your ‘potty-mouth’ we’ll bring it to your attention and give you a warning about it. If it persists, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SHOP FOR A WEEK, or until you can practice some clean communications skills. Repeated violations will just outright get you banned. We ain’t play’n here- Your foul mouth DOES HURT THE SHOP’S BUSINESS– and we’ll issue restraining orders to protect it. (Which i really HATE the thought of- I’m trying to promote a positive community here. Exiling anyone from it, seems counterproductive- even hypocritical! ‘The good of the many’ however, is going to have to trump ‘complete personal liberties’.

– rounds are timed and 70 minutes long
– 1 resource allowed
– admiral orders allowed for the
month they are valid

SATURDAY April 5th 3pm
“Capture the flag”
– for this event your games will go a maximum of 10 rounds or 70 minutes our until your opponent is destroyed
– you will get one point for each round you end in possession of “the flag”
– the flag will start in the dead center of the board
– each ship will have a “capture the flag” action it can do when it is with in range one of the flag token or the ship with the flag
– to perform the “capture the flag” action you can not be cloaked and must disable all remaining shields you
– when a ship has the flag it can only do green maneuvers (if it has no green maneuvers it does 1 forward)
– when a ship has the flag it skips its action and attack phases
– when a ship has the flag it can raise its shields
